1973 Porsche 911 SBefore the engine work
A look under the engine lid before preparation, and Bob’s approach to preserving its character.
Read along.
0:00Okay, so I'm a little reticent to show you this but I will what the hell
0:06so engine compartment
0:09engine
0:11Incredibly original wonderfully original. So this is the before
0:18You might say oh good gosh
0:20Anyway, it's super easy to clean this up clean up the fan housing, etc
0:27The amazing thing is this is all the original stuff. So super easy
0:34You can see the engine bay is
0:37untouched
0:40Everything is here even these incredibly rare
0:45hand screws for the the fuse cover
0:48even more rare
0:50these are
0:52plastic little wingnuts
0:54They always always always die
0:58What we would end up doing would be just cleaning everything up. The red shroud would just come back to life
1:04All of this would be
1:06Satin powder coated so that everything looked very very nice
1:12everything would just be detailed etc and
1:16The engine bay would be commensurate with the rest of the car
1:20So I don't want to restore everything because it just wouldn't look right. The car is original. It's not restored
1:28So it's got this area has to show that. Hey, I've got about a hundred thousand miles on me
