Underneath the reinstalled engine
Stainless steel heat exchangers and the refurbished gearbox crossmember.

0:00Good afternoon. I know the new owner of this car is watching, so a quick shout-out and to say hi.
0:09You can see the engine is back up in the car.
0:14We've done a lot of things. You can see brand-new shocks, of course, new clutch cable and clevis.
0:22You can see the trans crossmember we redid, both just refinishing it and the actual mounts themselves.
0:31Again, this car is just begging, I mean literally begging, for ice blasting.
0:38It would quite literally look like it just popped out of the factory.
0:45And I don't know. There's a chance that the owner is considering it.
0:52We'd love to do it. So let's see.

The flat-six from below
The engine case runs down the center, flanked by the heat exchangers beneath the cylinder banks.
Case and heat exchangers
A closer angle shows the engine case between the bright stainless housings and their exhaust pipes.
Across the front axle
Seen from below, the steering and suspension span the space behind the front wheels.
Stainless steel heat exchangers
Fresh air warms around hot exhaust pipes inside these housings, keeping cabin air separate from exhaust gases. With the rear muffler off, the outlet connection is exposed.
The crossmember, back in place
Now installed beneath the ribbed gearbox casing, the refurbished crossmember carries the transmission on its mounts.
The front end, assembled
The red KONI strut housing and steering arm stand out beneath the car, with the brake disc and steering linkage alongside.
